Product Ads: Advertising on Amazon?
I just got an email from Amazon that announces a new arrangement for listing products you sell on Amazon.
Up until now, if you wanted to have your products listed on Amazon, you would need to upload your products information. Then if someone bought something, Amazon would actually handle the financial transaction and send you the money (taking a cut along the way).
UPDATE: More info about Amazon Product Ads at this link now.
This never worked for us. So we never tried it. It seemed more of a pain than anything else to me.
However, I do have a client that does it and they say it works well. I guess it depends on the industry.
Now they are announcing “Product Ads on Amazon”. They describe it this way…
Amazon’s Selling On Amazon program allows sellers the opportunity to list and sell products on amazon.com. Product Ads allows sellers to advertise on amazon.com. Because Amazon Services manages the purchase transaction for sellers who participate in the Selling On Amazon program, these sellers need not maintain their own point-of-sale web site. Unlike Selling On Amazon, Product Ads allows the seller to manage the purchase transaction at its own e-commerce web site.

The idea seems like a good one to me.
We’ll probably give it a shot and see how it goes.

UPDATE: Amazon called me earlier today and offered to help us to get our products into their system. They have sent me an invitation to join the “marketplace” and start entering product information.
This is all very exciting. I’m looking forward to having out products listed in Amazon and draw traffic that way.
