As most of you know, Jason Dockery has been working here at Hippo Internet Marketing for almost three years now. He is not only a good worker, but a good friend. He’s been my right-hand-man here at the office and ends up doing most anything you can imagine to keep the business running well.
Jason started out with good Internet skills, but knowing very little about search engines and marketing. Now, he’s an expert at (more…)
Microsoft announced on their blog that they are making several changes to the current Microsoft adCenter beta. This is good news for those of us that work with PPC quite a bit.
Some of my best new clients are local Small to Medium Enterprises (SME’s). As such, they are wanting to know how to marketing their business to the local Asheville or Hendersonville area over the Internet.
At first, this seems challenging. After all, as the title of this post suggests, the Internet is primarily the “WORLD WIDE Web”, not the “LOCAL Web”. The big giants are sites such as Google, EBay, Yahoo, and Amazon. These sites are clearly used worldwide.
How can a marketer, advertiser, or SME only pay for local attention on the world wide web? Here is a laundry list of ideas… (more…)
My friend Ty has had some nice blog post on his experience Converting Google Campaigns to Yahoo Search Marketing. I didn’t even know this was possible. I recommend checking it out if you have a good Google AdWords campaign and want to start showing up on Yahoo Search Marketing without putting the work into creating a whole new campaign from scratch.
One of the things that was discussed in last night’s class was the power of whitepapers. In fact, I’m attending an online webinar this Thursday on the very subject. I recommend visiting the White Paper Source website to learn more.
I don’t see the actual class on the website, but I’m sure you can signup if you contact him. The webcast is entitled “Creating White Papers that Generate Leads (How to Lure Prospects With Words).” and is Thursday at 2 PM.
Last night was probably one of our best ever SCORE Internet Marketing classes. Don Sinclair gave some excellent information on the benefits of an email newsletter. He even took them through how to create one using an online service.
There were over 25 students present and they came from all different small businesses including…
Website developer
Modular Homes salesperson
Management consultant
WHKP Radio Station
Chiropractor
Acupuncturist
Medical and psychiatry private practice
Concierge
Data Communications equipment salesperson
British sports car restoration / sales and service of Triumph car parts
Affordable bedding online sales
Massage body works
And that’s just a partial list!!
My part consisted of the basics of how to market a website using the search engines. We discussed the basics of PPC and SEO. It was a lot of fun and several spent time after talking about their business and what they are trying to do.
By the way, we also talked about blogging. If any of the students are reading this post, feel free to leave a comment below.
As we have before, Don Sinclair and I will be teaching Internet Marketing on Tuesday evening, the 13th. SCORE is sponsoring the event, and it’s always entertaining.
If you want to learn from the master (and hear a little from me, too), please visit the Asheville SCORE site to learn how to register.
Google is now offering to show you exactly which websites are linking to your site. This is something they have never done before.
The one catch is that you need to validate that you are the owner of the site before they will show you the complete list. They do this via their Google Webmaster Tools system.
