Hippo Internet Marketing is Opening Again!

Three years ago, on January 15th, 2013, I announced here that HIPPO Internet Marketing was closing.  After ten years, I decided to stop taking clients and focus on my e-commerce sites.  Shortly after that, I went to Ephricon as their Director of Client Services for about a year.

Two years ago, after Ephricon became Straight North, I took some Internet marketing clients, but mostly just those that I already had a relationship with already.  I never opened up Hippo Internet Marketing in the sense that I started taking clients.  But now, after three years of being “closed”…

HIPPO Internet Marketing is Open again!

In fact, I’ve started to redesign our website at www.HippoIM.com!
(I love the fact that my office is the main picture on the home page.)

Blogging, Waste Receptacles, Clients, Agency work & more!

So it’s been about one week since I left Ephricon.  Wow!  Have I been busy.

I’m not the type to sit around waiting for something to happy.  I get right to work doing what I do.  And I am loving it.  As soon as I finished the video in the last post, I went to my big huge white board and started scripting out what my plan was.  Below are my top priorities.

1. First and foremost, I put in big red letters right in the center of the board the words “Blog Every Day”.  It’s one of my top priorities.  I think I’m a pretty good writer. But I want to be better.  It’s critical to good marketing.  I think good writing is critical to being a good marketer.  The best and only way to get better at any media is to do more of it.  It’s true for doing good video, good audio, and especially good writing.  I want to do more of all of that.  In fact, I’m determined to.

2. Next, I’m spending considerable time building my e-commerce sites.  In particular, I’m adding products and working on the marketing for my newest site, Waste Receptacle Solutions.  This site has done very well for us this year.  But it’s mostly because people are going straight to the product pages.  That’s ok by me.  Sales are sales.  Money is money.  So I’m adding more products (such as Witt Industries waste receptacles) to get more.  But I’m also going to soon start working on the category pages for stuff like outdoor waste receptacles and commercial waste receptacles. If you check those links, you’ll see that’s early yet.  I’m making great progress but I’ve got a lot to do.

Corey Creed – Moving on to Ephricon!

After ten years of owning and operating Hippo Internet Marketing (R.I.P.), I’m now moving on.

As of next week, I’ll be joining the team at Ephricon, a local Marketing Agency focused on SEO.

This was not something I was expecting, but the own Jon Payne approached me about a month ago asking if I knew anyone that could fill a role he needed. (I get questions like that a lot because of having several students and colleagues that know and learn SEO.) I’ve known Jon for several years now and have respected his agency.  It has a great reputation.  I also personally know several members of his staff and like them very much. (more…)

The History of Hippo Internet Marketing

Today is the last day for HIPPO Internet Marketing.  (for now)

Over the past two weeks, I’ve parted ways with all my clients, talked to most of my students, and am currently in the process of editing the HIPPO websites.  Today is Jason Dockery’s last day working with me and I’ll be starting the next phase early next week.

The whole thing has happened very quickly.  (More about that later)

Hippo Academy is Temporarily Open

For those of you that have attended my classes or attended my meetups, you know I’ve been a little “under the radar” lately. So here’s an update:

For the past two years, I’ve been working a lot with Social Fresh and for a few clients. I’ve also reopened the Hippo Internet Marketing classes on Search Engine Optimization, Google AdWords, Blogging, and other topics.

But last month I moved my office from Huntersville to Mooresville. It’s a closer location from home and a little cheaper. But more importantly, it’s setup to do video better. (more…)

The Hippo Internet Marketing Meetup – R.I.P.

About a year and a half ago, I started the HIPPO Internet Marketing Meetup.

I may be killing it soon.  Before I do, I’d like your thoughts.

First, here’s the history of the meetup…

The first one was the 2011 Internet Marketing Forecast with Brandon Uttley on January 20, 2011.  Since then, we’ve had some really good ones, including the 2012 forecast, an interview with weatherman Brad Panovich, and most recently, a great report on Google Plus by Mark Traphagan.  I even got the smartest black hat marketer I’ve ever heard of to come speak to us! The Inside Story behind Hippo Academy

By now, you have probably noticed that I launched Hippo Academy on April 19.

The launch involves making three videos and then a sales page.  The first video is giving some general ideas of why you can believe me.  The next video will explain the actual details of the academy and why it will work for you.  The third video will answer any questions that come up.

But you want the inside scoop, right?

The reality is that I stopped teaching my classes about six months ago for two reasons.  (more…)

Hippo Academy – We’re almost ready!

HIPPO ACADEMY is getting close to done.

I know some of you have been waiting a while.  But we’ll be opening our doors soon to the Hippo Academy.  It’s taken me longer than expected because it’s going to be much more than I originally planned.

This week I’m creating video training and posting it.  That way, once you get in, it will be waiting for you.  But we’re not stopping there.  Being a Hippo Academy member will get you some other pretty cool perks.

We’re not open quite yet, but will be soon.

PS:  If it sounds interesting to you, feel free to visit Hippo Academy now and leave your email address to stay informed.

Best of 2010 – Hippo Internet Marketing / Jungle Map Recap

This is the last day of 2010, so it is time to look back at what we’ve done.

Here at HIPPO Internet Marketing, I announced early in the year that I was “going dark.  This was in order to grow the e-commerce side of my business.

This was so important to me and required so much of my efforts, that in August I announced that I am stopping my classes, also.

In the middle of it all, we moved into our new office in March.  Here’s the pictures of it.

Given this, I blogged less this year (only 55 times) than since I started this blog in 2006.  I just didn’t have the time.  I had to focus.

(But my focus is about to change.)

I’m happy to report that the efforts were not in vain.  In all honestly, much of the effort I put forth had little to no effect.  But some things worked VERY well.  In fact, December was our best month in two and a half years.  SCORE!

Looking back, here are the 6 posts I thought were my best.  I hope you like them…

  1. 5 Steps for Getting Started in Mobile Marketing
  2. Why do Google, Apple, & Microsoft Race to be the SAME?
  3. Personal thoughts from Blog World Expo 2010
  4. Most Important take-aways from PubCon 2010
  5. A Practical Social Media Policy Template – Steal this!
  6. Twitter – Why Bother?

I can assure you that 2011 is going to be VERY different for me and my business.  HIPPO Internet Marketing is about to announce some big news next week.

The work I did for the e-commerce side of my business was not in vain.  I’ll continue that work.  But my focus is about to shift over to the Internet Marketing Training and Social Media side very quickly.
