The Google Phone – What’s the latest?

The rumors are flying again about a Google phone. 

Here are some things you might want to note:

1.  Google is being very quiet.  No official information yet.

2.  If you want to read the latest gossip and rumors, type “Google phone” into Google and go to the top of the page and click for Blog Search or News.  Then sort by date.

3.  When and if they do come out with a phone, it will be compared to the iPhone by EVERYONE.  So I’m sure they are thinking along those lines.  (In some way, it will need to be better, but not overshadow the iPhone.  Google and Apple are working VERY closely these days.)

4.  Unlike the iPhone, the Google phone will probably be cheap.  Quite likely it will be “ad-supported” to some extent.

5.  The Google phone (Gphone?) will likely have its own operating system.

6.  The history of the Google phone can be found nicely here.

7.  When it happens, it will be all over the news.  (The iPhone was one of the best PR and Word of Mouth success stories ever.  It was extremely effective.)

8.  I want one.
