Amazon FBA Single-Use Coupon Codes

January 23rd, 2015

For those of us that are working with Amazon to sell products via FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon), a feature is now available that we’ve been wanting for some time.  It is the ability to give a coupon code that can only be used once.  I just found out about it and I don’t believe it’s been available until just recently.  At least my business partner and I did not know of it.

NOTE:  Unfortunately, there is no way to limit the number of times an Amazon coupon can be used.  There is simply this one-time feature, and an unlimited feature.  I think we all hope this changes so that someday we can offer a coupon code that has a limit of being used 10 times, 100 times, etc.

To do a one-time coupon code, simply go to Advertising > Promotions in your Amazon Seller Central account.  Then create a promotion and tick the box labeled “One redemption per customer”.  This is under the heading “Step 3: Additional Options”.  Let the system suggest a code for you.  Preview the promotion and save it.

Next, locate your newly created promotion within “Manage Your Promotions” and press “View”. You’ll see a tab named “Manage claim codes”. Click on that tab and it will ask you to enter Group Name. Choose a name and enter the number of codes you want to create. They are generated immediately.  Simply refresh the page and download them.

This is not quite ideal, but it allows us to do some things better.  Someday we’ll get exactly what we want – limited use coupon codes!  For now, this is the next best thing.
