Cherokee, NC Videos - See them and tell others!

August 15th, 2007 No Comments »

I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians since 2005.  I’ve been working with their Internet marketing and search engine presence in harmony with the excellent work of The Goss Agency in Asheville, NC.

One of the more exciting things we’ve done is take some of the excellent videos they have done and place them on YouTube and Google Video.

In particular, this first video has been watched over 320 times in less than a month.  It is regarding the Festival of Native American People held on July 19–21, 2007.

Check it out…

Now do me a favor.  We’re trying to get more attention to these videos, especially as they are pretty incredible.

Charlotte Airport Aviation Director Jerry Orr Comments

August 14th, 2007 No Comments »

If you follow my blog, you know by now that August 2007 is “networking month” for me.  So, today I went to a Charlotte Chamber event in the SouthPark area.

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport Aviation Director Jerry Orr talked for a half hour about the airport.

Here are some highlights as I have them noted…

  • The Charlotte / Douglas Airport has 627 daily departures.
  • They have 30 million passengers per year.
  • They are a major hub for US Airways.
  • They also have some minor airlines such as JetBlue and AirTran.
  • There are 23,000 parking spaces for the public.
  • Daily parking is $3 but may go up to $6 soon.
  • They are making a new runway.
  • They move 30,000 cubic yards of dirt today and are under budget and ahead of schedule for the new runway.
  • It is unlikely that SouthWest Airlines will come anytime soon to CLT airport (someone asked).
  • He jokingly said that TSA stands for “Thousands Standing Around”.
  • He also feels that the TSA has not made security any better than 9/11.
  • However, airports may be more secure because the public is more aware of the threat of terrorism.

What does this have to do with Internet Marketing?

Nothing.

But I did think it was interesting.

Kevin Smith and Wayne McBryde of McBryde Website Design

August 12th, 2007 No Comments »

On Thursday, August 8, I had the pleasure of eating lunch with Wayne McBryde and Kevin Smith of McBryde Website Design in Mooresville, NC

Basically, if you live or work in the Lake Norman region, you know these guys and the work they do.  If not, something is seriously wrong.  You owe it to yourself to become acquainted with them (and what they do) as soon as possible…

To start with, McBryde Website design has built the majority of websites that are local to Mooresville, in particular.  Don’t believe me?  Check out their portfolio here.

Already own a website, you say?  Then check out Best of Lake Norman.  It’s a good opportunity to get more visibility and a decent local in-bound link, which is so important to search engine visibility.

But the best part is meeting the men behind McBryde web development in person.  These two are focused on just plain doing a good job for their clients.  They care.  Period.  They aren’t so obsessed with making money that they forget about the human beings that they service.

It’s a refreshing model that just plain works.  We feel the same way here at Hippo Internet Marketing.  We look forward to working with them more in the future and referring clients to them.

By the way, if you are looking for a simple, well optimized website, contact these guys.  They know good, basic SEO and Kevin in particular is looking forward to joining us for our upcoming SEO Classes in Mooresville.

Contact Wayne McBryde today and you’ll be glad you did.  Tell them Corey sent you.

Google Revenue $7,535,000,000 over 6 months!

August 10th, 2007 No Comments »

Yes folks, that’s $7.535 Billion in the last six months!

Sound good?  Sure is!

One year ago during the same six months, they only made $4.7 billion.

Nice.

This is all coming from its SEC form 10–Q filing as reported on by Search Engine Land.  They have also listed what Google feels its financial “risks and vulnerabilities” are.

L. A. Management Company - I met Lou Amico Yesterday

August 1st, 2007 1 Comment »

I got a head start on my networking “surge” for August by attending the Charlotte Chamber “Member Orientation 102” meeting yesterday (July 31).  The program had two parts to it:

  1. The Charlotte Chamber has plenty of research information if any of their members need it.  That’s great.  In fact, I’ve already emailed Erin Casullo (director of research) to see if she can provide me some info we’re needing.
  2. They have plenty of advertising opportunities available to members (no big surprise).

L. A. Management Company (Lou Amico)

At the end of the meeting, Lou Amico of L.A. Management was one of the sponsors and explained to all in attendance that his company operates locally.  They do multimedia, web, and SEO, among other things.
