What I’ve Been Doing (by Corey Creed)

You may have noticed that I took a little break from blogging lately. In fact, it has been about 12 days since my last meaningful post. So let me catch you up on me and my business a little.

About My Blog

For one thing, I improved my

blog a little the other week. It looks the same as it always has. (I like this template, but I’m not thrilled with how it looks. I’ll clean it up someday.) What I did change was more technical in nature…

1. I’m happy to say that I’ve fixed the “www and non-www” issue that naturally occurs in most websites. In other words, if you type just TheJungleMap.com into your browser (without the www), it will automatically resolve to www.TheJungleMap.com (with the www). That is something I am going to include in my future classes. You can learn more about how to do it here.

2. I have also arranged for the blog to have an automatic Google Sitemap created and submitted to Google every time I post. More about that in a future post – someday.

At any rate, when I made these great changes, I broke my blog. Well, not really the blog, but my blog software. I’ve been using Windows Live Writer to post to my blog and now it just won’t work. So I found and downloaded Anconia RocketPost. It seems to have a lot more features, but it costs $99. Then I broke that. (Not sure how.)

After a bunch of work, I finally got it working again. (I suck at tech support, so it took a long time.) I like the RocketPost software. I’m using it now. If it doesn’t break again within the trial period, I’ll probably buy it.

About My Clients

I have not been taking any more clients. I really like the clients I have right now and I don’t want to jinx it!

Actually, it was a decision I made a few months ago. I was just way too busy working for other websites. The resul was that my sites were not getting the attention they needed. I found myself making recommendations to my clients that I really needed to do on mine.

My current clients include some strong and noteworthy businesses including The Cherokee Indians, Chimney Rock Park, and Volvo Construction. But more recently, I have taken on an Asheville dentist and Hendersonville Restaurant. Both are proving to be very interesting to work on.

I’m also staying on as the Internet Marketing Strategist for The Goss Agency. I enjoy working with them and the various other team members including Kathi Petersen and Chris Cavanaugh.

About My Logo

Over the last few months, I hired a local Asheville Graphic Designer named David Lynch to work on a new Hippo logo. He did an awesome job and I’m happy to say that our new logo looks fantastic. I’ll do a post sometime soon that shows the work we went through to make it. I’d do it now but it’s getting late and I hate working with graphics. (I suck at that too. Good thing I can do internet marketing. Sometimes it feels like I can’t do anything else.)

About my Websites

I currently have a temporary logo at the top of my main websites. I’m going to work with David to make them better. I don’t mind them too much, but my wife says the pastel look is too cartoonish.

More importantly, I’m working on my new site for Internet Marketing Training classes. In case you have not heard, I’m starting a seminar series of how to do Search Engine Optimization, Pay Per Click Marketing, Blogging, and understanding Web Analytics. This new site will be where you learn more and signup. For now, you can just signup for the newsletter.

I’m also trying to clean up my site that provides Internet Marketing Recommendations.

About my Personal Life

Sorry, but it’s personal.

(Just kidding.)

Lately, I’ve been waking up early and exercising every morning on the elliptical machine. My wife and I got it a couple months ago. It’s awesome. If you know me, you know that I am NOT a morning person. But I’ve actually grown to like it. And I’ve lost about 15 lbs too! Go figure. I usually listen to internet marketing podcasts during my 25 minute workout, including The Daily Searchcast and SEO Rockstars Both are fantastic.

I’m also doing a lot of volunteer work, which I enjoy very much. This month, my goal is to devote 50 hours to volunteer work. I should be able to pull it off with everything else I have going on. But it won’t be easy.

Conclusion

As always, I’m crazy busy, but loving it.

And now that my blog seems to be working correctly, I’ll try to post more often. Stay tuned!
