The funny thing is Baltimore seems to be doing the same thing in the last 6 months too... when I left there were few events and only a handful of meetups. 6 months later there's a party every week :) I think we're seeing that with the spread of social media the "social" part is encouraging offline gatherings too. I really credit much of this to the social media community... as developers have been doing their thing for years and not really getting out and meeting others in the local community to the same degree as is happening today. I procrastinate the purchase of the ticket even though from day 1, I know that I am going. SocialFresh is not an event that I want to take the chance of missing...or paying $100 more later. Count me in!
