Corey,
Great heads up on DAO. In the coming year, we will see several new acronyms for the internet landscape and emphasis on ones that have been around for a few months. For example, look for the spotlight on "Social Media Optimization" aka SMO. As you referred to, tools of social media such as Twitter etc, all are search-able now, not through Google or standard search engines, but through social search engines, and it will be our duty to adapt new methods in addition to SEO. (SEO is not dead)
Another one, "Mobile Optimization" aka MO. If you have an iPhone for example, and use the "Urban Spoon" application then how do you make sure your clients restaurant comes up into the search result on your mobile?
This year will be fun for sure, and DAO is just one of several considerations we need to keep up on.
