Jon Payne I agree with you. Spending 50 bucks to pick everyone’s brains is worth every penny.

I’m glad that they plan to have 2 separate groups.
One for beginners, and one for advanced.

Thanks Guys! I’m a newbie in the Charlotte area, but have been doing SEO full-time since 2003. I’m running a Fort Mill SEO Meet-up, which helps me network in the Fort Mill area and meet people in the industry. But, The SEMCLT is where I can learn and collaborate with the people in the trenches doing this day in and day out.

I’m excited about this. “beginner SEO” meetings with 100 people are not of interest to me. I’d rather have deeper discussion with 30-40 people who are in the trenches on a day-to-day basis.

We did something similar with the Baltimore SEO Meetup – I had 200 members within like the first few months and we put up an approval process. Our attendance was lower but the quality of the meetups was better. That is the bar for success IMO. You guys have done something similar by splitting up the group here… but you did it one better. Maybe two better.

I don’t care if there are 100 members or 1,000 members. I care about how many solid, valuable connections I make. I’d rather have 10 of those from 100 total members than have 5 solid connections in a room of 500 people.

Sounds like a great idea, looking forward to the discussions going forward. Met a couple of the individuals mentioned, including Fred and you, Corey, at the PRSA luncheon this week. For those wavering on whether this is worth it or “for real,” I can say that this is a very talented and forward thinking group. Kudos for realizing that 300+ SEO minds work better than one.

You hit the nail on the head. Yes we will be adding a directory very soon. I plan on getting the form up and running before the next meeting so everyone can fill it out. From there I’ll start to build out the members profiles within the next few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed

We really want this to be about “The Members”. Without them we’re nothing. We’re holding an ‘open social’ in the next few months that will be a large networking opportunity for everyone involved in Charlotte. We’ll open our doors and let everyone join us!
